Films related to my tittle sequence

Spring Breakers

Budget - $5,000,000
Total Gross - $14,124,284

Certificate - 18

I think that this is a very similar film to mine because of the narrative being about money, drugs and power. Furthermore, the certificate for this film is 18 and we are predicting that ours will be 15 because there won't be that much violence and inappropriate language as our target audience is 15-30 years old population. We expect our budget to be $10 million this is because of the special effects, locations and the crew.

 4,3,2,1

Budget- $4,900,000
Total Gross - £799,634

Certificate - 15

In this film the main characters are 4 girls. In the trailer of this film we can see a lot of crime being committed but the four girls are being strong and stand against their enemies. This is very similar to my film in the aspect of crime being committed and FBI being involved. Also the age rating is 15 as there's no strong violence or language shown. The budget is a lot lower than ours and so as the total gross.

Hangover Part III

Budget – 103,000,000
Total Gross (worldwide) - $350,986,625
Certificate - 15

This is another film that I think is an appropriate link to the film we would want to make because the 4 main characters go to Las Vegas on a stag party but it always ends bad for them as they commit crime and take drugs. This is also a 15 rated film even though some of the scenes might be a little bit too much for 15 years old teenagers. However, this film has a lot higher budget than ours so therefore our film might not be as successful.

Introduction to our course

Coursework requirements- create an opening title sequence to an original film, which should be no longer than two minutes

MARKS-research + planning = 20- title sequence = 60- evaluation = 20

My Group- Sophie Lisi;Emily Collins;Julia Misheva (me)

IDEAS

Our first idea for the film was the aftermath of a teenage house party where contaminated drugs where taken and the group of protagonists have to work out what happend and deal with the subsequent dramas.

The second was a group of girls in London who take their heart broken friend on a night out.

This idea got the most developed but we realised to film the title sequence (which would be the party) was next to impossible.

We went back to this idea and developed the story line before changing it completely but keeping the four main girls, this then developed into our final idea.

In time outside of lessons we began to develope the four girls back stories and working the film idea around them, small elements where changes and thought on before we finalised the story and made our pitch.

Sound

Diegetic sound
-Dialogue (voices)
-Background noises
-soundtrack
-sounds made by objects

Non-digetic sound
-Music added afterwards
-narrators commentary
- sound effects

Sound terms
Diegetic sound- Both audience and characters can hear ; sound effects or music played in the scene

Non-digetic sound- Only audience can hear the soundtrack music-played for effects (but not part of the scene)

Sound bridge- Will add continuity as sound from one sequences carries onto the next

Voiceover- when a voice ,often a character  in film, it is heard whilst we see an image of a space and time in which that character is not actually speaking

Parallel sound- will compliment what we see

Dialogue- the use of speech by characters

Contrapuntal sound- A counterpart to what we see. What we see and hear does not match.

Foley sound-

Editing

Editing is a post-production technique in which the footage shot during production is cut up and  in such a way as to tell the story.

The editor decides:
 -The order of scenes
 -The pace of scenes
-Which scenes to include or discard

-The speed of editing
-The style of editing (connection of shots)

Micro Features: Camera Movement

Pan- a film or television camera pans in a particular direction, it moves in that direction and follows the thing that is being filmed

Tilt up/Tilt down-A tilt is a vertical camera movement in which the camera points up or down from a stationary location. For example, if you mount a camera on your shoulder and nod it up and down, you are tilting the camera.

Pedestal-A pedestal shot means moving the camera vertically with respect to the subject. This is often referred to as "pedding" the camera up or down.

Track-The term tracking shot is widely considered to be synonymous with dolly shot; that is, a shot in which the camera is mounted on a cart which travels along tracks.

Crab-the movement of the camera ( left and right )

Hand held- it gives a jerky, ragged effect, totally at odds with the organised smoothness of a dolly shot

Point of view shot-A POV shot need not be the strict point-of-view of an actual single character in a film. Sometimes the point-of-view shot is taken over the shoulder of the character (third person), who remains visible on the screen. Sometimes a POV shot is "shared" ("dual" or "triple"), i.e. it represents the joint POV of two (or more) characters

Steadicam-a lightweight mounting for a movie camera that keeps it steady forfilming when hand-held or moving.

Zoom-a camera shot that changes smoothly from a long shot to a close-up orvice versa

Jump cut and eyeline shot
